CARS IN THE STEVESTON SALMON FESTIVAL PARADE
The Canada Day Car Show is sponsored by Richmond Auto Mall. They will lead off the parade with two brand new cars, one red, one white, as per Canada’s colours.
A selection of classic and custom cars will follow…… Dan Ward, has a great 1959 Corvette Roadster, painted red and white and of course, colours of the day…… Tevie Smith is bringing his 1947 Chrysler Town & Country car called “The Termite Taxi”. It is one of the most photographed cars in North America. Tevie is coming direct from the Great American Race which ends in Tacoma, on Sunday June 30th……Representing the Art Cars is Marty Ross with his 1961 Panda Car, which is similar to a Morris. These police cars were used in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Marty will dress the part of a Constable of that era…….John Sulentich has a gorgeous 1964 Chev Impala Super Sport. John lives in Richmond and is excited to be part of the parade……..The hot rods on display at the car show will be represented by Charlie Veillon and his 1934 Ford Sedan …….. The latest entry is not a car, but a drag boat, it has been restored from the sixties when it was a race champion. This boat actually raced in Richmond at the biggest drag boat race ever held. Mo Davidson is enthused to bring his boat to Steveston, it is the “Miss British Columbia”.
There will be several dozen other hot rods, custom cars, imports and a second drag boat on display in the East lawn area next to the baseball diamond. Please take it in.
